I think that the only answer is that it’s really is that good, and Pioneer has certainly come out with a winner. And I’m not really surprised, since they’ve been in this business for more than a decade. I’m sure that they know what professional club DJ’s really want. But more than that, I think that they’re also in tune with the changing technology of the sound business. There are so many new media types right now, and so many different data sources, that people are in need of a product that will just be able to give order to all these varied media files and players. That’s what the Pioneer CDJ 2000 is, a way to make sense out of the madness hehe. Just set it up, and suddenly you’re a master at every kind of sound file, and every kind of music output device. I think that really gives a sense of empowerment to anyone who wants to be a DJ, since a DJ is after all, at the heart of it, a music and sound manipulator, and not an instrument player.

I haven’t been to a dance club in a very long while, but I have been to concerts. I think that this product also enables the DJ to cross the boundaries between dance club, where he’s in the background, to a concert, where he is positioned in the spotlight, in front of the stage. Of course, in terms of performance I still have some reservations.
